The Eco B&B Velacatania project was born from the renovation of a building located within the ancient Catanese village, selected for its excellent southern exposure that maximises the entry of sunlight, following the principles of green building and energy saving.
Protagonist of the project was the “Recovery” of all materials such as the old wooden doors used for our breakfast area, the entrance shelves from the decommissioned piers of the port of Syracuse, the recovery of the old wooden exterior fixtures, the headboards and bed frames, the tables made from parts of boats, the cupboards built with handmade ropes and ladders, and the new walls and floors of the thermally and acoustically insulated houses are made of wood.
The electrical, water and heating systems, differentiated bathroom drains, through to the use of natural wall paints, express our idea inspired by Gandhi ‘Be the change you want to see happen in the world‘.
We thought, through our Eco-Friendly B&B, to make our lifestyle known and make a small contribution to the change we would like to see.

Eco B&B Velacatania is located in the historical centre of Catania, less than 500m from Via Etnea.
The property is about 2.4 km from Lido Arcobaleno, 1.6 km from Le Ciminiere and 1.8 km from Catania Cathedral. The hotel offers a 24-hour reception, an ATM and the organisation of guided tours

Ancillary Activities - Sailing Boat Excursions
For sailing enthusiasts, weather permitting, it is possible to organise day or half-day sailing trips with a skipper on the beautiful sea around the city of Catania.
How to book the skipper and the price of excursions will be discussed on site. The price of trips will depend on the number of guests, the duration (half or full day) and the services offered (e.g. with or without lunch on board or an aperitif).
